Dramatis Persona

…I only wish. I’m not terribly dramatic at all.

My name is Langley Crane. Apparently my mother picked it, Langley being a family name. My friends call me Lang or Crane, and if I ever pick up any readers on this thing I’d hope they’d do the same. I’m 25, by the way, though I’m turning 26 at the end of the month. I work as a clerk for the town government here in Langdon, North Dakota. It’s a small, sleepy town. Not much happens here, meaning not much paperwork, so most of my job consists of organizing the office and shooting the breeze with my boss, Cecilia.

In case you’re wondering, my parents are dead. Mom died in a car accident last year, and my father died of lung cancer and pure hatred a few years before that. I live in the house they left me, a little two-bedroom ranch house here in town. I’m thinking of renting the second bedroom out to make a little extra money. Not that I need any, mind you. It’s just nice to have petty cash to fuel my love of technology.

Look, I’m sure anybody who happens to be reading this is wondering why I created a blog at all. The answer is actually pretty simple. I hope to be a writer someday, and creating a blog seemed like a good way to get practice. I’m not sure what I’ll write about, since my life as it stands is fairly boring. I might start posting short stories and asking for feedback from my readers on which way the story should go. Yeah, that sounds good.

Crap. Cecilia’s just arrived for the day. I’ve gotta go look busy. Bye for now!
